Material Compatibility

While advanced medical devices offer greater precision and functionality, their delicate materials require a sterilization process that preserves performance throughout the product lifecycle. Conventional high-temperature sterilization methods can damage heat-sensitive electronics, thermolabile polymers, bonded materials, and other critical components through excessive heat, moisture, and oxidation. These effects may lead to corrosion, material degradation, or reduced device longevity.

Our state-of-the-art EOGas 4PLUS system, featuring Ethylene Oxide-Flexible Chamber Technology (EO-FCT), delivers. EO-FCT is significantly different than traditional ethylene oxide rigid chamber systems. Because EO-FCT removes excess air from the chamber, the system requires only a microdose of EO (17.6 grams) to achieve terminal sterilization. Rigid chambers can require up to 90% more ethylene oxide to achieve the same results.

Lethal to pathogens, EOGas 4PLUS is FDA-cleared to sterilize all flexible endoscopes to 10-6 SAL (Sterility Assurance Level), including those with>1100 mm working lumens. This system is the first sterilizer to receive FDA 510(k) clearance for terminal sterilization of duodenoscopes and colonoscopes.

EOGas 4PLUS systems are used around the world for processing medical instruments that, when processed using other modalities, become damaged and degraded. When combined with Andersen’s emissions abator, EOGas 4PLUS releases less than 0.02 grams of EO into the environment per cycle, making EOGas 4PLUS one of the most environmentally friendly systems on the market. EOGas 4PLUS has the same power requirements as a typical hairdryer.

Unlike conventional EO systems that typically use 100 to 170 grams of ethylene oxide per cycle, the EOGas 4PLUS uses just 17.6 grams of EO per cycle—that’s up to 90% less gas than many traditional sterilization methods.
