1957

Dr H.W. Andersen designs a new and improved nasogastric tube.
1958

Bellevue Hospital in New York City orders 5,000 of Dr. Andersen’s new gastric tubes.
1965

Andersen invents and patents the self-contained Biological Indicator (BI).
1969

Andersen Sterilizers invents ultra-efficient Anprolene Flexible Chamber System.
1988

The Andersen companies relocate from New York to North Carolina.
1996

Andersen Scientific is founded to serve small- and medium-lot contract sterilization customers.
2015

Andersen receives its first FDA-clearances.
2019

Andersen wins the FDA Innovation Challenge 2 Award for EO-Flexible Chamber Technology.
2020

Andersen earns additional FDA-clearances and a second national environmental stewardship award.
2025

Andersen launches the EOGas4PLUS, the next generation in EO sterilization.
1958
Andersen Sterilizers was founded in 1958 by H.W. Andersen, MD, in Oyster Bay, New York. Our founding marked the beginning of our journey in gas sterilization. Dr. Andersen’s innovative spirit has led the way to safer, more effective sterilization methods. Dr. Andersen has over 90 patents. Now, well into his 90s, Dr. Andersen continues to push the scientific envelope.

1985
We introduced our first fully automated EO sterilizer, revolutionizing the industry. This innovation significantly improved efficiency and reliability.

2000
We expanded our product line to include eco-friendly sterilization solutions. This commitment to sustainability reflects our dedication to both health and the environment.

2010
We achieved ISO certification, affirming our commitment to quality management. This milestone solidified our reputation as a trusted leader in sterilization technology.
2023

Andersen Sterilizers is made up of about 120 professionals from throughout the region, including engineers, doctors, assembly line workers, shipping personnel, filling station experts, salespeople and many others. Andersen Sterilizers has grown to become Alamance County’s employer of choice. Generation after generation of family members have chosen to work at Andersen Sterilizers.
